I thinks its a cool idea we'll see how the first ones work out but its going to be good for a couple different applications. first for freeride and downhill its going to eliminate the need for bashrings and chainguides . also it would be great for people wanting a three speed rig but dont want a whole new wheel for their single speed. Also from what i've heard it creates a smoother shifting in the front which eliminates some problems with shifting while coming into a hill or other times where you are surprised by a drastic change in angle and lastly eliminates cross chaining(although for anyone getting into componentry at this level cross chaining is probably not really an issue)
