So I just noticed that my Burner has a gusset at the downtube junction as well as the top tube junction. The Spot does not have the top tube gusset. I wonder why? Can anyone expand my Turner trivia knowledge? - DT? (This is what happens when it snows for 27 out of the last 31 days - you begin staring at your bikes).

Medium and small burners had the gusset as well.

It's simply a different tubeset on the Spot. I asked Turner about this some years ago, and I don't remember exactly what was said, but it was along the same lines as that. The Burner had some tubing design from the end of the 90's, and gussetting was good because it was a heavy duty XC bike, while the Spot had simply a different design, and new tubing profiles, but no less burly up front.

That makes sense, the diameter of the Spot top tube is larger than the Burner's so maybe the added reinforcement just wasn't needed.
