Okay I gave in and called Dean today and ordered a Colonel 29r w/ EBB. Just plain Ti, no fancy butted or carbon wraps. So, like many that have done the Dean wait before me, anybody want to guess a date of delivery? Order placed at Noon on 2/16/06. Told John I'd like to have it by May 1, 10weeks 4 days away. Was told it would be no problem. This will be my second Dean (I got a El Diente roadie last summer) and it arrived 4 days early. May 1st is a monday, I'm torn between guessing April 27 (the Friday before), or May 3rd. Everybody post your guesses, winner gets a pair of L/XL SockGuy "I (heart) Bike Porn" socks!

Let the games (and waiting) begin! :D

May 10th.

How do you like your El Diente? I'm thinking about one. Seems like a bargain for a custom Ti bike. What's the weight/size of your frame?

I LOVE my El D! It is everything I wanted in a roadbike. It's stiff in the BB (gotta love a 1.75" downtube and 1" chainstays) but comfortable to ride all day. And the weight is pretty good, my 59cm weighs like 3.4lbs. That's just straight-gauge 3/2.5 Ti. Sure there are some carbon or aluminum frames that are lighter but they wouldn't ride as nice or be as durable. My complete bike with pedals, cages, and computer weighs 16.5 lbs (with my lightest wheels, more training oriented wheeset is about 16.8ish.) Get your order in now, you won't be disappointed!

Uh-oo.... another "Guess-the-delivery-date-of-my-DEAN" thread. I'm a big fan of DEAN and love my Colonel! But, these threads hardly ever have a happy ending and inevitably end up highlighting one of the weaknesses (wait times) of a good American bike company.

I'll be the optimist in the crowd.
I`ll also assume the socks are not used.

Sparrow here, of the Plain People, and May 12 is a better date for that birth. Very good things on May 12.

July 31st.

There's about a 50% chance that your frame won't be right the first time, so I am guessing July 31st because they are going to have to build you two frames to get one right.

But then you'll have to ship it back to them to correct one build mistake or another:)

In all seriousness....I hope you get a great frame out of the deal. They can crank out great work when they want to.
