I'm looking to trade my large Zaskar for a small frame for my lady friends to ride.

A local guy has a GT Tempest, I'm trying to give him an idea of value of my Zaskar, not to trade for the Tempest, but to trade for other bikes he's got. The Tempest is his pride and job, and it was my understand that Zaskar was a much better bike.

Weight comparison? New price comparison?

you dont say what year the bikes are but here is some info on a Zaskar and a Tempest
the Zaskar is the Top of the Line GT hardtail and the Tempest is like 1 model up from entry level in the line up

Zaskar $2165 new in '96
Tempest $499 new in '96

If they're both in decent condition the Zaskar frame is probably worth about what the complete Tempest is. And that assuming you really want the Tempest.

no i don't have any interest in the Tempest. I'm more interested in some of the newer frames the guy has.

it was just kinda funny that he claimed to be rebuild a GT Tempest like it was something precious.
