so i'm checking out this ss gt peace they're blowing out at like $375. i was looking at the monocog flight but this one's like $500. less. couple questions.
i'm 5'10" with short legs. i believe my normal standover is like 31 or so. can i get away with a small frame, or do i need the medium?
also, does this bike have the ebb?
i've heard nightmares about this bb and i go like 255 pounds and dont want the bull*****.
thanks in advance.

just took another look and it has what they call a "euro-bb shell". what the hell is that?

I have ridden the 2009 GT Peace 9er for two years. I weigh 255 also. I did however, break the frame at one of the drop outs in the back, but GT replaced it without issue.

I just bought a 2011 Xtc1, but the Rasta bike will always be in my quiver.

Good Luck

I'm pretty sure that a "euro" BB is a standard threaded bottom bracket - as opposed to a one-piece Ashtabula-type crank, which is/was common on cruisers and BMX bikes. GT came from BMX roots, although ownership has changed a lot, but I guess they still cling to the old ways. ;)
Does anyone know if this can accept an 8 or 9 speed cassette and rear derailleur ?
The GT Peace 9r has slotted horizontal dropouts. If you think EBB has issues, that has issues of its own. Can creak and come loose and is a pain in the ass to remove and reinstall the wheel (such as when changing a flat). I'll take a good EBB any day over that... actually I'll pass on both.
great bike for the price
damn good bike for the price. The bike has horizontal dropouts, not a EBB so no worries there. Buy it before they are gone...you will like it :)
G
No EBB. At 5'10", I think you should grab a medium. They have pretty low standover, too.

Use the code OUTMAR and it comes down to $337.49. They only have small left. I was looking at getting one too but I already have a rigid. Tempting....

That sounds like a steal, but if they don't have one in your size and you end up buying the Mono Flight, don't despair -- it's a FANTASTIC bike.
