i am at the point that when i ride with a organized group ,when we are finished the ride i could go on for a few more miles. my riding friend said that we can start riding on our own but i know that i will not be that disciplined to push on..what do you guys think?

Start a bit early and ride a few k before the group ride starts. Ride from home to the trail head and back and so you have a bit more k before and after the group. Just keep riding with your buddy after the group ride, so many options.... It all comes to how you see the group ride: a fun, social event, or just a tool to get some level of fitness. Also riding alone give you no possibility;s to share and boast about the sweet lines you've just railed.... I does come in handy to find a group that suits your level of fitness and preferred riding time. Seek riders in your current group and agree to split up in a fast and a recreational group.... and still meet up halfway and for that refreshing apres ride drink. I have done all of the above and it always worked out.

Why do you need to go with anyone else at all? Solo riding can be quite nice...

Depends on the group. Why push? Better to flow...
One thing that always bugs me to no end is when guys hammer super hard for 10 minutes at a time and then take a 5 minute break to ventillate. Can't we just back it off two clicks and not stop all the time?

I find I push more when I ride with just one friend, with a group I usually end up waiting for the slowest ones. I also find I'm pretty lazy when riding on my own, I won't push quite as much for difficult places...

That said, I have ridden with groups where I'm the one people are waiting for, and then you do end up pushing quite a lot.

my group starts together but as were riding some people want to hit some thing again so parts of the group peal off and keep going. and the part that wanted to do it again does the jump drop or what ever a couple times. after like 20 min they catch up and we all ride together again works good for us

I often do that on group rides with slower riders than myself. You get better technically at going fast when doing that kind of intervals, fast-pause-fast-pause, than always riding a regular pace. Getting some intervals also give me a decent workout despite my riding buddies being slower than myself. By the time riders from behind catch up I'm ready to start again..

When riding with people at the same level it's usually more of a steady pace..
