Got another Sunday off . Thought it would be a good day to hit up the Waterline ride up to Van Eden do a lap around the meadow climb up to the Luge ride down to trail 48 then along the singletrack by the creek possibly finishing off with Wayne’s World. Suppose to be a beautiful day the leaves are starting to change. Be a slow ride no hurries time to stop and smell the roses or whatever….
a three hour tour :D

Start from the shop- Mt. and Road Bicycle Repair 1514 miner st. about 10 a.m.

Approximate mileage and elevation gain for a baseline?
Don’t know it’s a new route. Mixing it up a bit. We usually ride up the Barbour side Looks like about 15 and I hope the elevation profile is wrong but this is CCC. I expect to do some pushing up to the luge I have ridden it in the past. The ride back down is always a blast. Here is what it looks like:

quick crappy map

Jsut to clarify - we show up a little before 10AM at the Mt. and Road Bicycle Repair at 1514 Miner St. in Idaho Springs, ready to ride. We then ride the road to access the trails.
Is that correct?

If I'm reading the OP correctly, that is right, the Waterline climb starts just a little ways up 103, easily ridden from town. Once you get down the other side, it's a big climb to the top of the luge. So wish I could join y'all. The luge is loose and steep but super fun, and the Barbour singletrack is a really great DH. Lots of loose f'n rocks, though.

When you guys are on the way down, after the Barbour singletrack pops out into the lower meadow and you pick up the jeep road, remember to make the left before the creek crossing -- look for two "XX"s slashed into an aspen tree as a marker. That accesses a short but sweet section of singletrack that rarely gets ridden.

Wear comfortable shoes. There's a good chunk of hiking required above Van Eden. This ride was a big reason I switched to flats on my trail bike.

I’ll probably park a t Smeds. We will ride over to the shop an meet up with everyone. MT. And Road is closed on Sundays so the shop won’t be open. Then ride from there. A good place to park is behind Beau J’os in the free city parking lot. Coffee right next door to the shop. a 10 - 10:15 start time.

Still dry enough to ride?
Light rain this a.m. but it’s clearing should be a good day for a ride. With all the rocks the area drains well so mud shouldn’t be a problem. There has been a lot of rain lately and some of the trails are washed out a bit. Just means there are more rocks. They seem to grow out of the ground.
Looking foreword to the ride hopefully we will se ya there.

:thumbsup:Good times.
TooManyToyz froze
trail rida took a good spill and asked me if he had a hole in his lip I told him all I could see was dirt. How ya doing trail rida?

We didn’t make it to the luge save it for another day.
The 2400ft. elevation gain to the top was tough for me trail rida made it look easy I think he rode everything.

It was suppose to be a slow ride so we could stop and smell the roses and whatever…
