[note that i posted the same question in 'general discussions' forum, but got no replies :( ]

I am currently a RapidFire user cuz i jus bought a new bike, and hating the shifting system. I use to use SRAM NRX's shorty, and loved it
I read a few forums on shorty vs halfpipe.
I am soo confused as to which is better, rather the pros and cons of each system: SRAM shorty vs SRAM halfpipe shifters. Gimme ur personal opinions on each of those two SRAM grips. (NOT Shimano rapidfires plz, unless u can make some form of fair comparison :p)

Thx!

I've forgotten what the advertised advantage of the longer Half-Pipe shifters was, but a lot of folks have had trouble with unintentional shifts because the grip is so short, your hand is always on the shifter. I had Half-Pipes and went back to shorties for this reason.

Yes, I have read about these mis-shifting problems, but a lot of ppl hav grown to love halfpipes or so they say. In ur opinion, besides the accidental shifting, wat is good and bad about halfpipes?

I had shorty gripshifters, then switched to half pipes when they came out, then back to the new shortys but I missed my quick shifting SO much I went back to halfpipes.

the quick shifting FAR outweighed the accidental mis shifts.

just my opinion
The half-pipes were such a bad idea: making (almost the whole) grip a shifter just led to mis-shifts. I'm a Sram/gripshift-type myself and love the shortys. Front shifters allow trim adjustment of the front derailleur and the rears (coupled with their high end derailleurs) shift like butter. I've even use their trigger shifters and they're great (so far)

I had to laugh when Sraam introduced the "Half-Pipe" as some revolution in shifting technology. When twisties first came out around 15 years ago, the had a fairly long shifter part, and *everyone* cut them shorter as the hot mod to prevent mis-shifts. GS took the cue and simply made them shorter...

They tried reintroducing it and... imagine that... people still feel the same!

Just a little history for those who don't really care.
