I thought I would introduce myself instead of lurking for ever. I just got back into mountain biking after a 5 year break ;-( . I was born and raised in Santa Cruz but ended up moving around after highschool for school and work for about 10 years. I lived in Portland in '99 and rode almost every day. Portland has some great trails! After portland I moved to downtown boston and never got a chance to ride so I sold my bike on ebay (at the time I was riding a Gary Fisher Level Betty). I finally moved back to Santa Cruz after being away for way too long. Anyways...I just picked up a pretty tight '03 Heckler that's built up pretty good on eBay the other week and went out for the first time in 5 years today. I did about a 10 miler in and around UCSC. I love my Heckler so far! It was raining pretty good but I couldn't bear to be a weenie and stay inside because it's cold outside. I need to adjust my rear shock a bit because I'm packin' an extra 20lbs or so from not working out. After a few more warm-up days I'll probably break down and try some of the tougher stuff like I used to ride. Hopefully I'll see you guys/gals out on the trail someday.
