I'm going to be doing that ride around the 10th or 12th, depending how things work out. I'm from Melbourne, but I'm going on a holiday, going as far as Townsville, and intend to do a lot of riding. on the way. I also saw the article which is why I'm doing that ride. It appears to be fairly simple navigation-wise which is why I'm doing it, being a Melbourne-ite...
Hey Hud

If your coming through Brisbane, shout out and I'll try to organise a ride and show you some of the better trails Brisbane has to offer.
That sounds good, NoWay Ray. Is there much riding in Brisy? The trouble is I will be taking it day by day, doing whatever works out. So it's hard to plan ahead. I'll try though. Is there any other places that anyone would reccommend? Somewhere a stranger could drop in, have fun without getting lost?
It's a bit far, co's I live in Melbourne, VIC.
Hud, there is a lot of great riding in Brisbane. Have a look at www.mtbdirt.com , it's a site that provides info about legal trails in the South_East Queensland area.
NWR what's your mobile number? I'll give you a call when I'm up there.
Is Mt coot - tha worth going to?
Fellcrag xc course looks good, I saw some pics of you there. Is it open?
Unfortunately it's only open for race days. Mt Cootha or more specifically the Gap Creek Reserve, has some really good singletrack. Also worth checking out is Daisy Hill State Forest or Bunyaville State Forest, although it really helps if you have a guide for them.

Check your pm for my mobile no.
Cheers Ray, I'll be in touch.

Nah, I live in St Ives, so not on the way:) Won't be able to come, my dad plays tennis on saturdays:(
Are you doing the N-Zo 12 hour by any chance? I believe theres still spare spots for teams of 3,4 or 5!

maybe next year.... still building up my fitness
A quick report on the GNR. I liked it a lot. Rougher and more techy in places than I expected. A lot of the time you are riding on raw solid rock. For the return I retraced my way back and turned right like the mag reccommends at Shepards gully track. I wouldn't suggest this it is very rough and not much fun IMO. It also leaves you with about a 5km road ride back to the ferry. I'd suggest rolling back down the restored section at walking pace.
BTW No Way Ray, a friend showed me around Daisy Hill so I didn't bother contacting you. Some nice track there, I didn't have long enough.
