Can'tGetRight, D-Wang, Chris, and I rode Grafton today. Got some sweet shots. CGR was the only one on a Turner today, and he was going off! Chris tried the Coke drop, and the result of his landing was similar to mine.....just a pile of manhood laying in the dirt.

Alas the VP Free has lived a good life, but it's time to move on. Frames on the top of my list are the Highline, and the Rogue, but I hear that both bikes will feel too cramped for a guy my size. Any other ideas?

We tried a size large Highline and it did indeed seem bit snug and that was with a full 24" top tube (dude, that's long) BUT countered by a tiny (40, 50mm?) stem. Are you planning on finding a dedicated FR bike with a tt longer than 24"? Good luck.

Seems like the Free was the tool for the job. Pivots getting to be a bother?

That is what I heard. Time to call DT, and beg him for one size bigger on the Highline. The VP Free has been a great bike. Just last week I replaced the bearings for the first time, so the pivots are not an issue. I'm just a whore who likes to try new things. The Rogue would be at the top of my list, if it weren't for the small frame sizes. I guess TE didn't want us big boys trying to warranty all of the inevitable broken parts.

The Free certainly is MY tool for the job - the only thing about putting a longer stem on a Highline is if you want to use a dual crown fork (which I would say at least half of buyers would) - many dual crowns come with attached stems - I wouldn't want to put a long-ish xc-like stem on a dual crown...of course, I'm not freakishly large, so a med or large frame would be fine for me.....
