I'm from albuquerque and am looking for a good ride in Jemez. Anyone have directions to a good trail?? I usually ride foothills, south 14(otero) and just rode Winsor! If you havn't ridden Windsor in SF go do it!

Thanks for any info!! :)

Plenty..........................

but they're kind of hard to find. There are some great rides in the Jemez out of Los Alamos, but I assume you're looking for trailheads close to Abq. Some good hard riding out of Cochiti Canyon, but you gotta love climbing. I've heard there are some good miles near San Ysidro (30 miles west of Abq), trailhead on right side of highway past town.

Route-finding can be tough. Your best hope is that some Abq riders plan another Jemez ride and post here.

Timo, any plans for another Jemez epic?

Jemez Riding

The Jemez National Forest is a big place so it there are plenty of places to ride. Most people from Albuquerque ride in two main places; Cochiti Lake area and Jemez Springs (Mesas) area.

For the Cochiti rides, look on the trail section here on mtbr.com as there are some writeups.

For Jemez Springs and the Mesas look up the forest gnome at www.abundantadventures.com . Sign up for one of his rides and he will show you the area...plus you can buy his CD rom with the many maps in it. He claims to know of over 1000-miles of trail out there.....and i would not doubt him.
