I just mentioned this on another thread and decided to start one to see if anyone has any info on this...

First, I can't thank COMBA, IMBA, the City of Golden, and all those involved enough for the Golden Bike Park. It is GREAT!

This weekend, like most...proved that the popularity is there! Plenty of people from all different demographics are loving and using this place. So, because of that a group of us have been wondering what's in store for GBP for 2011? First off, there's the parking situation so we were wondering if a more "formal" parking lot might be in the works. Second, are there any plans for additional phases...maybe some additional flow lines, drops, some elevated sections, a wall ride, other "features" perhaps?

And, as a quick reminder...in the spirit of keeping the GBP legal, open, etc. I do NOT think we are supposed to dig or build ourselves correct? Plans need to go through the appropriate channels. I just want to confirm that.

But at any rate, there are guys excited about this and ready and willing to help both physically and monetarily if need be. And, inquiring minds want to know what the "founders" have in mind for near-future expansion.

Let us know if you know.

You are correct. Building anything out there without going through the GBP group isn't good. we have a process in which we are following to make the city and the riders happy. There are specific proceedure in place to accommodate new trails. If you do find that people are digging something new, please contact me.

I think everyone is respecting this and following the guidelines. I have only seen guys doing sweeping, snow removal, and other general maintenance but not anything that would really constitute new construction. The most recent addition has been the jump at the end of the main line but that was done by GBP people so I'm sure that's okay.

So is there a place to see the master plan or the next phase? Any timelines etc.?

One cool thing we were thinking is that now that it's open there are a lot of guys out there on any given weekend...most of whom will probably be willing to help for an hour or so with any given project if tools etc are there and provided.

The bike will have maintenance days the first Saturday of the month every month starting March 5 from 9am-12. Bring your tools and wheel barrels to get some much needed dirt moved.

We have the lots to mainatin and finish before we start new lines. This will is going to take most of this year. We also need money to get equipment and dirt.

We have left out some tools and a bucket for maintenance. The shovel, one broom and bucket are now gone. We really don't have the tool supply to keep losing gear. The tools have also been used to modify the trail, some good and some bad. Modifications need to be completed and done well if they are going to be done.

Lets get some people out there on March 5.
