I am 6 ft., 240 lbs. I currently ride an Ellsworth Distance but I'm going to sell it and go with a 29er. I'm looking for a 29er that has minimal bottom bracket flex. I HATE BB flex !!! Any suggestions? I would prefer steel but I'd go with aluminum if necessary.

Steel is inherently going to give more flex than aluminum. I ride a Niner SIR9 fully rigid at 6'-4" and 265 lbs. It flexes, but it is a lively flex in a good way. Are you looking to stay fully suspended? If you want a full suspension 29r with a very rigid BB, definitely look at the Ventana El Capitan or El Rey. I am riding a new El Ciclon (26") and I have never ridden a suspension frame that is as laterally stiff as the Ventana. This is one of the traits that Sherwood is known for with his frame designs. I would say steel (hardtail) or aluminum (fully).

Try asking on the 29er forum. You'll get all kinds of information there.

The big question is ... what do you mean by flex? There is horizontal, vertical and tortional flex. Two of those are bad, the other is very desireable. Builders can create these properties with pretty much ANY material by selecting tubes of different shapes and butting.
