The biggest difference is that road shoes are slick on the bottoms and not good for walking up a dirt hill at all. The MTB shoes have lugs and depending on the type you get may be a good ride your bike and walk a trail kind of shoe. I would never go with a road shoe and pedals on a mountain bike but plenty of people use their MTB shoes and pedals for their road setups.chefwong said:I'm planning to try going clipless. What are the differences between road/mtb shoes - road/mtb pedals?
I've mainly been using my brother hand me down bike as excercise - about 60 miles a day so far. Sometime I wish I had a roadie <g>.
