I love living in Arizona. I moved here from in and around Chicago. I spent a couple of years in Southern Minnesota. I never really felt at home until I moved into my sketchy little neighborhood near South Mountain. I really love it here. The landscape here is unique, the people are cool and there is work for me here.

My folks moved to Central Oregon around when I moved to AZ and I have to say that there is no other place I would rather live in this country than there. The only thing that keeps me away is the lack of work and all the excellent mountain bikers and friends that I've met in AZ. It's amazing how friendly the people I have met in this state have been. Usually it takes me a long time to make friends, but that did not happen here and I love it.

I've noticed the *******ry on the AZ board, and in the AZ population in general, and it got me thinking....
Why the hell do we talk politics on this board? Aren't mountain bikers smarter than that?
Why the hell do we constantly have to endure gay/ghey/Apache/Mexican/Arpio whatever cracks on this board? Doesn't riding a bike in tough conditions clear our minds of that ****?
Sure it's summer, but are we really that predictable? Are we really as dumb as the rest of the country thinks we are?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my charge. If you've gotten out of PHX this summer post your photos here. Phoenix and AZ have been at a boiling point for many months now and summer has just made it worse. Who's gotten away to gain some perspective and come back knowing that PHX and it's people still kick ass?
I have.

So this ghey Apache-Mexican Arpaio hater walks into a bar... ;-)

Great post and great pics. It's been the summer of hiking and driving up north for me as well.

Great idea, made a run north over 4th of July holiday. High Country and the 4th. The only bummer was no bike.

OK, here's a few from week before last on our way up to see BikeBreaker and his lovely wife Joannie in Reno. Through Sequoia NP, Yosemeti NP, Lake Tahoe to Reno the Vegas Baby. Didn't have room for the bike because of the boat, not that I've been riding any lately but did manage to get one ride in with BB one morning before he had to go to work.

Alright I got my pics sized correctly so they should post. I went to N Calif this summer and took three great rides. I rode Folsom Lake, Salmon Falls and Sly Park. This is my old stomping grounds and it was great to visit again.

Great Post. Well Said.

No pics, but I did get to ride Palo Duro Canyon in Texas, and did take a trip to Flathead Lake/Glacier National Park for some incredible hiking and wildlife viewing.
