I'm thinking of buying a Remedy and wearing it without the (humongous) cheekpads for strictly XC, er, I mean, ALL MOUNTAIN use. :D I tried it on without the pads and it was actually pretty stable.

Removing the cheek pads obviously won't offer the protection available with the pads in place, but I figure it can't be much worse than the MET Parachute or the old Switchblade. Besides, I only need it in order to keep my teeth and nose protected should I ever come face to to face with ridiculously sharp and bountiful rocks we have in our local trails.

So has anyone tried wearing the Remedy without cheek pads, or have an opinion on the matter?

Thanks,
Ant

I would suggest

that you just get one of these lids as the Giro Remedy shell is very large and thick (making your head hot).

Also don't you remember in high school shop class when the teacher would always say

"Always use the correct tool for the job at hand"

Are you are trying to link to the Specialized Deviant? Your link doesn't work in FireFox, IE or Safari. ;)

To the OP, I may actually remove those pads one ride in the humid future as that Remedy is a noggin cooker and a half!
