I like to look at some of the pre-holiday catalogs I get.

No idea how to get a giver to notice this.
Maybe this can spark off other ideas?
My technique is to use the wish list on AMZ.

Anything from here, my new favourite tool brand. I treated myself to the BicycleSet 3 ( Bicycle set 3, 41 pieces - Wera Product finder ) and I now have my eye on the Joker wrenches.

You might have just cost me a lot of money! The 10 piece T handle torx and hex set looks very nice!

Regarding providing gift ideas to the giver, simply ask for their wish list. When they reply, share yours by saying something like "my sister/mom/whomever asked me the same, here's what I came up with".

OT-a USAC Silver level annual membership with Experticity access is a WONDERFUL gift--even if you don't race.

You can never go wrong with the gift of a custom titanium frame. As least I am pretty sure you can’t, as I am still waiting for someone to give me one. :)

Wera has become my goto for screwdrivers, hex and torx drivers.

Affordable standbys people could always use
Nice grips
A tire
Pedals
Gloves

When it comes to tools and other stuff my attitude is always buy something that said person would never buy for themselves. So for tools that would be a really really nice tool like something from Abbey. Same for whiskey and beer, something really high end.

im in on this one. I buy what I want and need when wanted and needed. So I am near impossible to shop for... I need ideas to get to my fam.
I have an Amazon wish list of things I will need, but haven’t had to buy yet. Example - I’ve got the Park Tools flat ground sockets in there for stripping forks. I will buy them when I need them, but haven’t needed them yet..

My wife wants me to maintain an Amazon wish list to give her ideas but she considers it crass to buy something directly off it. This makes bike related gifts hit or miss, as I usually know what I want.

Im one that always likes a gift coupon. i tell the mrs i just want a coupon that i can turn in anytime... last year she gave me a coupon for a welder (cause i want to learn to weld).. once i figure out the one i want ill turn in the coupon...

Id rather have a coupon that i can use to get exactly what i want vs money spent on gifts i never really wanted..

So you have to find stuff that is close to what you want and hope she then buys the things you really do want?
