Couldn't find it on the USFS page you linked to, but in the Mount St. Helens Trail Guide I downloaded (get your copy here) it's a poach. It's been 2 years, things have changed. It's in the "Blast Zone", they're getting all touchy feelly about it. Hikers only, camping by permit/reservation only, etc. That side of the mountain is going to be all brush soon enough.

The guide conflicts itself, I had the same bit of confusion when I started looking into this ride.
