G'day, I'm an Aussie. I currently ride a giant vt3 2004. I have had this bike for around 8 months and am looking to upgrade.
I have narrowed the field down to two bikes. The giant reign 1 or the cannondale prophet 1000. In Australia these bikes retail for $4400 (giant) and $4750 (cannondale). We haven't yet seen the reign in the flesh, its around 3 weeks from being released here.(yes, we are a bit behind !)
I was wondering if anybody out there has any views on which is the better bike. The reign 1 is speced with avid juicy 7 discs and rockshox pike team air forks.
I do alot of single track with a bit of light freeriding, small drops and log jumps etc. I also need to do abit of climbing to get to the top of the tracks. Blasting down hill is also fun, often on rocky or heavily rooted tracks.
As we haven't seen the reign yet, I haven't been able to test ride the bike. I can only go on reviews in magazines and on the net. The other option is the reign 2, alot cheaper at $3200 with spv rear, but not as well speced elsewhere.
I am leaning towards the prophet, I'm not sure why though, I just have a feeling that it is a better frame.
Can anybody help out with any views ?

Thanks, confussed Aussie.

I'm in the same boat as you. Although I'm looking at the Prophet 600 vs Reign 3.

got the reign 2

I decided on the reign 2, they had a few at bicycle superstore in Mentone Vic. I think they are down to one reign 1. I got the last reign2 in 16 inch that they had. Couldnt justify the extra 15 hundy to get similar specced prophet 1000. The prophet 800 which is closer in price (but still more expensive) has alot lower specs than the reign 2. Plus the maestro suspension is mighty sweet. The prophet is a nice looking bike though, just a bit to pricey.
