Is it possible to put a longer shock on an AC to increase travel, and if so what size/sizes will fit and not cause any frame-on-frame contact? I am aware of linkage upgrades, but am interested in shock options...if there are any...

Not sure about the shock since if you stick a longer one on, the swingarm might bottom on the bottom bracket shell, but there are linkage upgrades floating around on the net. There's usually a lot of them on ebay.

I just run a stock size Swinger4way on mine.

I ran a Fox Shock on my 02' AC, the length was 7" 7/8" i2i with no problems.
7 1/2 and 7 7/8 have the same 2"stroke = same travel.

What u can do to get more travel is try to find a 7 1/2 X 2.25" stroke or go for the DangerBoy up-grade...for wich u gonna need a heavyer srping rate (100lbs.+)

Well I know someone who is running a 7 7/8th X 2.25 on his, with no clearance issues at all. It hardly changed the geometry at all, but like mentioned before, you will need to run a heavier spring. That should give you an extra .75 inches of travel.
