i just scored some bontrager dusters off a 2008 rig from e-bay. with shipping they were a hair more than i wanted to spend, but i really wanted the option to go tubeless. the wheel had only been used for 3 rides before the owner decided ss wasn't going to work for him.
how do you like them?
how are they holding up?
anybody running tubelss, and was the setup hard?

I've been riding my rig for about a year now and not had any problems with the wheels. I'm not the lightest guy out there either 6'0" 204lbs. If your lighter than me then you should have no problem. I don't treat the bike with kid gloves either.

I have beaten the crap out of mine this year, bought the rig in january. With the combo of the stock tires, I have only had one flat this year, which just happened this month! The wheels have also stayed true this entire time as well. I have really been impressed with the quality of these wheels. I do believe I am going to switch to tubeless though, just to drop some weight. All in due time though.

this exactly what i wanted to hear. thanks. makes me even happier at the deal i got on the basically unused wheels. i plan on going tubeless as well at some point. the weight savings will be nice, but i am doing it more to be able to run lower preasure.

I've got em. Rebuilt the rear with a Hope Pro2 rear hub....mostly cause they sound awesome. The rims are great and set up easy tubeless with the magical strips that are finally available. Interesting tidbit, the Dusters are only 15 grams heavier than the Race X Lite rims.

I've got mine set up tubeless and it is great. Presently they are at 17lbs front and back and I go lower in the heavy snow. Go tubeless you'll be happy you did.

They are fantastic rims...the hubs that came on the Rig are cheaper, but should suffer no ill effects. At worst, you'll need a qualified builder to re-tension (properly tension) the wheelset, as they are machine built...after that, you should have no problems.

Bontragers new tubeless system is drop-dead fantastic. None of this duct-tape ghetto BS, just a proprietary system that is dead-perfect functional, no mess, no guess, when installed, you can't even tell it's not a part of the wheel/rim itself.

I liked the tubeless system so much, I had my new hubs laced up by MikeC of lacemine29.com to dusters, and couldn't be more happy, and that's for my FS ride, and I outweigh all ya'll bantom-weights.

I'm also thinking of doing a rim-over with my I9 SS wheelset from the Delgato'd I have now (don't like them) to a Duster set.
