Why does GF use Bontrager parts?

Yes, sort of...

"Trek Bicycle Corporation is a major bicycle and cycling product manufacturer and distributor under brand names Trek, Gary Fisher, Bontrager, Klein and until recently, LeMond Racing Cycles."

Trek Bicycle Corp is the umbrella group covering the above brands amongst others.

Trek bought Gary Fisher back in 1993 and bought Bontrager back in 1995. Before that Bontrager actually made mostly bike frames, awesome ones that people still love to this day. Of course Fisher was also part inventor of mountain biking, part inventor of the term "Mountain Bike", and his company was the first to sell a complete bike for that purpose. In a cool move by Trek, they hired both of these pioneers after they bought out their companies. Keith Bontrager himself still does a lot of the product design and developtment for the Bontrager division and Gary Fisher is of course the crazy president of Fisher bikes that has been personally pushing through a lot of innovative changes.

also Trek owns Villiger and Diamant bikes over here in Europe.....but these two are mainly city bikes, Pedelecs and Commuter bikes......
