I was all set to buy a '04 GF DualSport 129 (http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=dualsport&bike=DualSport129) as it seems to be just the compromise bike I need but couldn't find a Large, so decided to wait for the '05 version to come along - with the assumption that they'd upgrade a few components and maybe even sort out the shock with something better than the Manitou South Super. Sadly, they've combined the 129 and the lower spec 229 to create the Montare (the frame of the 129 but with most of the lower spec components from the 229 such as the South Elite (http://www.fisherbikes.com/archive/bike_detail.asp?series=dualsport&bike=Montare&year=2005).

So, 2 things - firstly, does anyone think GF will release a higher spec dualsport or should I customise a Montare. If I go down the customise route, would an MX Comp be a good replacement for the South Elite?

what are you looking for

As far as going to the Marz, what are you looking for, ie: what sort of riding do you think you want to do? I mean the montare/dualsport is definitely not a hardcore mountain bike but a pretty tough hybrid.

I would sit tight and see what all comes in. It looks like the Paragon29 will come in around $1300 with better shocks and components than the Montare for not a lot more money. and cheaper than buying a montare and then buying a mxcomp.

look around the 29er board for more info and such.
the guys there seem to be really up on a lot of the upcoming fisher stuff.

good luck
