The rear facing camera that shows the rear wheel and the suspension working gives a cool effect. You also get the benefit of seeing the following rider. You lose a bit of the terrain and the direction of the trail. The use this setup for some of the Moto GP cameras, however, the racing action always seems to have someone close behind.
Another idea would have the camera mounted backward on the bars to capture the rider effect. Probably good for critiquing your own riding position. This would definitely be cool for any crashes. Like this:
