Time for some Winter Mountain Riding Stoke!

This past Sunday I was determined to make it for a for a ride in the mountains. I have been watching the South facing slopes north of I-70 become clearer and clearer so Sunday I decided to take my chances and go check out the old mining roads and trails near Empire and Georgetown. As you'll see while you were driving 2 hours south to Pueblo or cruising the bike paths about Denver and Golden, I wasn't disappointed...

The climb up Empire Pass quickly warmed me up and was completely clear

looking back Georgetown Lake looks nice in the early morning Light

Looking down and I-70 falls off far below

Old Mining caves begging to be Spelunked

Moving on up into Empire and the views start popping out

Maybe if my bike can't get me where I'm going, this fella can

Climbing north of Empire...notice the dry dirt road...oh yeah it was good

You have the best photo reports!!! I am so ready to ride up there now!
Very nice, but it sure looks COLD. One would think if it is that clear there, how about Centennial Cone?
Nice I thought about heading up there, but wasn't sure so did Belcher and North Table instead.
Very nice MGE!
Ride stats?... looks like a blast.

Holy Frijoles - you did ride a Loooonnngggggg way!!
Empire perhaps?

Either way - looks fantastic.
Wish I woulda had the time!
Nice, been sometime since I have been in that area. Thanks for the pix.
Schnauzers, wasn't bad...in the 30's when I started, near 40 when I finished...I was thinking at least the south facing side of the Cone would be clear. If I get time next weekend I'm shooting for the south facing slopes north of Idaho Springs and Virginia Canyon Road.

Jake, bout 4 hours, only 2,500 ft or so of climbing...not sure on mileage..just enjoying the ride.

and yes, PBR and Bad Andy...you guys missed it.
Great trails around that area. Someone on this board was working on officially mapping them for Clear Creek at one point but it fizzled out.

I think that park (Mintun?) is purpose built for mountain boarding by the shop just up the street. Still bikable though.

nice post
Question: How was it you have a picture of the 'Minturn DJ Spot' but you went between Georgetown & Empire??? Did you slip in a loop that went past vail and back?
