Making a single speed mtb from a Giant Rincon Se 2001. Frame is in great condition but suspension is bouncy beyond belief.

It originally came with a 73mm fork (Suntour MS8040S...I think) and thinking if using a 80mm Fox Dart 2.

Think it will mess with geometry to much?

Live a little. Get a Recon.

You'll feel a difference going to 100mm. Whether it's good or bad, I dunno. I doubt I could tell the difference between 73mm and 80mm.

If it's a really low-budget project, think about a rigid. They're cheap, light, don't waste power like a cheap suspension fork, and track better than a cheap suspension fork.

I wouldn't jump to a 100mm fork that you can't lower to 80mm. That's a signifigant difference where the 7mm isn't such a big deal. You'll probably notice a change but it shouldn't mess anything up.
