How is the riding there in general? I hope to be coming out to GK this winter for a few years.

The riding in the area is bad, no mountain or such. really poor place for mountainbike. Thats great for your posting, its a nice place. im one of the canadian over there and ive been searching trails and places to bike in the last two years and i found a couple of places and but nothing big. Ive myself start to build a jump in woods behind my town but ive been there till last october. Yeah and if you need a good bike shop dont go on the one on the base cuz it sucks and there is one not to bad that most people go but i found the best place, its in the neederlands, u can go on their site, www.bike-fun.nlé u can always email me at [email protected]
There is a new MTN bike park that has opened

and it's located in Fuerburg, GM. Don't really know how far that is from you. It has lifts to bring bikes up, and has reasonable fee's. The trails are suppose to be marked for difficulty and they have some north shore style there. It opened a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't had the chance to check it out yet. Don't know how far it is from where you are now though. Fuerburg is about 10k's (mabe a little more) from Kreutzburg (mmmmm beer). :p
i dunno where those cities are but geilenkirchen is just beside the dutch border and its about 50km from aachen and 100km from Koln and Duseldorf

It is in the Schweinfurt and Wuerzburg area of Germany. Closer to Schweinfurt.
Im sorry but i checked and its really far from where i live so ive no clue if there is any trail in your region but if you can manage to get the train or a car ride you should go to garmish-partenkirchen which is not too far from where you live, near austria, and ive been there to snowboard and its really nice so i guest its also really nice for biking
Ramstein Ge.

Hey give the folks a call at Ramstein air base outdoor recreation. There are a few guys that work in the bike repair shop ( the one you want to speak with is the Australian dude!) I talked with them and they are pretty serious freeride/downhill guys. I know that they travel on the weekend to several areas and hit the trails. Hope this helps!

We used to live in the Netherlands and yes it is mighty flat but there some good places to go………..well not if you're only in to free riding…….. Around Arnhem, Nijmegen, Amerongen, Vaals and many more are some sign posted trails. Go check www.mtbroutes.nl it is in Dutch but it will give you a clue where to go.

Belgium is said to have good places to go as well but I do not know many. Houfalize is said to have a DH course. If I where you I'd go to one of the many parks in Germany, they are quite good. Okay you will not go there for an evening ride…………we have always been able to find cheap accommodation for the weekends.

We are living in Switzerland now and yes the mountain biking is much better here and that's an understatement............
In Krefeld there're some nice Freeride/Downhill areas, but shure, this is too far from you. U've to check out ur area intensively.

For a one-day-trip I recommend to visit Bad Wildbad, this bikepark is one of the best in germany! ... Solong.

His name is Paul

and he broke his hand. There are several guys there who do jumps and such. They are presently building jumps in the area. I don't know of any freeride stuff myself, I just SS and enjoy the area a good deal. Paul is a real nice guy, don't let his gruff demeanor fool you.
