I just purchase a 2.3 Geax UST tire from the lbs. I was looking for a 2.1, but at the guy's recommendation I bought a 2.3 and I am concerned about tire clearance. I have about 3/8th inch of clearance between tire and the chainstay. I would much prefer to avoid tire rub, as the bike is brand new and I don't want to screw it up just yet. Is 3/8th enough, or will the tire flex too much and start rubbing. I might be able to get the lbs to swap it out, but it has been Stan's sealed and is already mounted and ready to go.

3/8" of clearance is huge. No worries.

Shiggy- Thanks for the response. Two more questions-

What is the minimum tire clearance you would go for?
Also, I rechecked it with a tape measure (instead of the eyeball method) and it is more like 1/4" or so. Still OK?

1/4" is still way more than enough.

If the tire does not rub (much) you have enough clearance (in the dry). Depends on what you are comfortable using.
