At 10:30 am on Monday (July 11), Matt Lee from Chapel Hill, NC reached the Mexican border in Antelope Wells, NM and was the first rider to finish the Great Divide Race in just under 18 days (17 days, 22 hours, 30 minutes). He also rode additional 220 miles from Banff, Alberta to the start of the race in Roosville, MT for a total of 2,700 miles with over 200,000 feet of climbing under 20 days (19 days, 20 hours). He participated in the Great Divide Race for 3 years in the row and won the race for the second consecutive year. Eight riders started the race this year, six of them already dropped out of the race.
