'Gator windcutter brake track request...please...

955 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  nino
Could someone post a pic of what the rotor "burn in" should look like on the windcutter/serrated rotor.

I just got a windcutter for the rear of my supercal. I do not think that that brake pads are tracking correctly on the rotor because all of the "burn in" is only on the cut out surface and goes all the way to the outer diameter. Using stock Juicy 5 hardware, size 160mm.

Thanks

this rotor was used on oro's and now on mine m775. i have the same "burn in" as you, and believe it's normal, everything's working perfectly

My burn in is a few mm further outboard than yours. The inner diameter of the burn track crosses the cut outs only and does not reach the outermost full circle part of the rotor. I'll have to pull the pad to see if the top is not being touched by the rotor.

Do i need to shave some of the adapter?

I'll try ASAP.

I have found a few pics and BB sent me a pic of his and it seems like I am at least 2-3mm outboard from where I should be. I plan on taking some paint off of the adapter and shave it a bit if needed.

Soya look the same as mine, which is ideal, the pad is 1-2 mm inboard from the outer edge of the rotor.

How do they work with the Elixirs? My plan is to replace the J7's on my Supercal with Elixir Rs and put the J7s on the HT.

I have a set of 775.Did you buy new pads when you installed the new rotors?or can i use my old stock pads? Thanks
worked good. not awesome. I went through a pair of OE sintered pads on the rear quick but I'm going to give it another try with a fresh set of pads.

edit.
sintered pads...

sintered pads are needed on these rotors.
i have best results with EBC gold. Very powerful and very long life!
