Can I use my current reba off a Gary Fisher G1 geometry bike on a new Gary Fisher G2 bike? I’ve heard this could be an issue. Thanks in advance and I’ll listen off line.

I'm sure this has been disuccsed but I missed it.

Might get more answers in the fisher forum ... but if you use a G1 fork on a G2 frame essentially you will be loosing all the benefits of having a G2 frame (not necessarily a bad thing) I remember when Fisher made the move from the G1 Cake to the G2 Hifi's all the warranty replacement frames were G2 HiFi's so these guys had to use their G1 forks and Fisher said it will handle similar to the G1 Cake. Back then the raba (2008 and older I think) had a 38mm offset I believe so it might be an issue on an older fork but now they use 46 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and that's not too far from the G2's 51mm offset.

For reference I use a non-g2 reba on my 09 G2 Rig frame as a 1x9 and it is fine. Also see this thread, might get some good insight seeing as the racer guys do it, albeit with the newer reba offset http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=590562
