Garmin Edge 130 Plus Radar Tone Volume

There's two options for alert tones buried in the 530 menus, have you tried the other one? It was quite a bit louder.

Thanks. I have tried both settings. I am trying to find out if the 130 Plus is louder.

Seems like something may be amiss, my friend has a 530 paired with a Varia and I can easily hear it even while riding behind or ahead of him.

I found the second tone to be excessively loud myself. Could something in your mounting system be deadening the sound?

I can test both.
At the moment i run without sound and my watch just vibrates when a car is approaching.
Heavy rain for the next few days though.

Just saw this post. Got 130+ and a Varia on my road bike. My 130 is mounted with the out front mount.
The alert tone is adequate. I can hear it over road noise. Wish it were louder and consistent.
Does not make the tone sometimes-I see the dot, no alert. Amount of vehicles behind doesn’t matter. I can only guess it’s the logic within the software.

No settings on the 130 to change the volume. These would be in the $$$$1030 computer.

Workarounds seem to be using a phone paired to Varia and phone volume to generate louder alerts.
Some are using their Garmin watches set to vibrate as an alert.
Read of rider changing to a stem mount to have the alert tone reflect off the stem.

I like the Varia. Use it with a mirror to check my blindspot.
