G2 fork options?

970 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Juanmoretime
So I am set on getting a G2 suspension fork for my new On One Ti frame, so the search has begun.

What options are there? Looks like I need a take off from a Gary Fisher 29er bike. Fox forks are out there, and I think I have also seen a few Reba's with G2. Is that it, or are there an other forks that were made with G2 geometry?

Thanks,
Mark

I think that's it.

Edit...

There are a few on eBay right now.

Mark,
I will play devil's advocate a bit and ask why are you disposed toward a G2 fork with that frame? The frame isn't really designed for the G2 offset or at least not the target offset. No doubt the G2 will work well on it albeit be a bit quick to steer. Lots of forks available with 46mm offset and after a few rides, it will all be good anyway so why limit your selection?
Cheers.
I had one and sold it w/ my Superfly so I could have a "normal" offset for my new ride. I don't understand why you would think they're special? That offset will make you steer a bit quicker and thats it. For the few millimeters difference between that and a stock fork I wouldn't go nuts shopping around.

Since you asked they're made in 80, 100, and I think 120 or 140 this year for the Rumblefish.

The 80 and 100 can be converted to either size, speaking of the Fox F29, by changing spacers in the shock. I had mine @ 100mm and wouldn't dream of lowering it.

options lock out control is about it. Good luck!

Don't try to change my mind! Just kidding. I want a G2 for a few reasons. First, according to On One, the more offset the better. I am planning to run the fork at 100mm, so the extra offset will quicken the steering a bit, which is useful for my tight twist trails. And lastly, my Black Sheep rigid singlespeed was build around a 51mm offset suspension corrected Ti fork, and I could swap the fork to that bike and keep the handling where I like it.

Yes, I have thought this through.

And yes, I am watching all those auctions.

rigid option

Walt works built me a custom rigid steel fork with desired 51mm offset. Very nice. About 1000 grams.
Tons on ebay - there is some seller out of wisconsin that always has 5-6 listed in the $400-450 range.
I wouldn't search for a G2 buy itself. I am running a G2 Fox F29 RL that Bens Bike was selling pretty cheap, for a Fox anyway, on Ebay. After several months on my Misfit I love it. It works a 1000 times better than the Reba SL and I on it.
