I have no experience with tires wider than 2.5
Currently riding technical trials on full suspension 29, 2.3 tires
How much different would the ride be on full suspension 27.5 wheels 4inch tires on technical trials and rock gardens.

How is that cheating?

It is really nice to not have to pick a line, having to pick a line is so late 90's riding style.

You do pay a penalty though in rotational weight and losing some flickability.

agreed, although running the 27.5x4 on a 50mm rim give some of the flickability back...

Cheating in a good way

My full squish fatties have saved me a time or two . Lean back, hold on, fingers off the front brake. Good chance it'll roll out the other end haha

There are so many variables to consider but overall the larger diameter and float of these large wheels provide an advantage in the rough. I come from an Intense Tracer (160mm travel) with 27.5 x 2.5/2.4" Minions and run 3.8" Minions (50mm width rims) on a Trek Farley EX8 set up with 140mm travel up front and 120mm rear. Same HT angle 66 degrees. The fat bike has a longer wheel base thus not as precise in steering but holds it's momentum at speed very well. I'm only ten seconds slower on my local flow trail that takes 13 minutes to descend. Almost five pounds difference in weight between the two rigs.
