I've been a little disappointed by my 203 rotor up front, it seems to warp a little (i.e., rub) when it's hot, and I think it's more than I need on my 5'' travel (xc-oriented) bike. I'm stoked to see that Shimano makes 180 mm XT rotors (SM-RT75-MA.) for those of us on the fence between 160 and 203. And I've got a new fork on the way, a RockShox Revelation 426, so I figure it's the perfect time for a new rotor.

But I can't find an adapter, or anything on this site about such a thing. The Revelation fork has IS mounts; the caliper I'm using is an '05 XT (set up for post mount). Anyone know of an adapter that would work? Thanks!

Wow, thanks for the speedy response Wombat!

It could be that I'm being stupid, but I'm not seeing the one I'd need. I think I need a "Front, 51mm I.S. QR Fork to 74mm Post-Mount caliper, 180mm Rotor," and unfortunately it looks like that configuration doesn't exist at Speedgoat... Please let me know if you think I'm missing the right answer here (my caliper is a Shimano XT, post mount). Thanks again.

Sorry, you are right, I was thinking that the first listing on this page: http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=125150&cat=30&brand=226 was probably correct, but it is the wrong way around.

There is also an extensive list here http://aebike.com/page.cfm?PageID=30&action=list&Category=167&brand=367&type=T but I find it hard to work out form the description which will suit you. Probably worth a call.

Speedgoat's page for all that Shimano stuff sucks, but I emailed them a while ago and they do stock all the different adapter sizes. In their defense, Shimano now makes adapters for 2 kinds of fork mounts, 2 kinds of caliper mounts, and 3 different rotor sizes, so it's all pretty complicated. Universalcycles.com has them now too, but you can probably get one from your LBS for about the same price.

you need this Shimano adapter SM-MA-F180P/S
That looks exactly like what I need. Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate the help! I hope it's worth the trouble for the 180mm rotor, I think it will be.

EDIT: In case someone else is searching for this adapter -- & because Speedgoat's service was truly impressive -- I thought I'd give an update.

I emailed Speedgoat's tech support. I received a response within an hour or so saying "you want the first item in the list found here: http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=125150." Bingo! They also sent me the link to the 6-bolt 180mm XT rotor (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=126541) & matched a competitor's price on the rotor.

This lil' adapter issue had both my LBS and another online retailer stumped. I'll definitely be using Speedgoat again, especially if I need some random hard-to-find part. Thanks again for the help everyone.
