Evening guys,
Just assembling the new bike. Mounting the front wheel with the thru axle. What is this little batwing shaped plate on the drive side of the front axle held on with a 2.5mm screw? How do i use this? Its actually a part of the front fork lower leg. Plus there are two notches there as well for some reason.

Thanks

Sid, that allows you to 'clock' a quick release handle in a specific orientation (think of it like a captive QR nut). For a Kabolt/other bolt on axle, it makes no difference where the cog-shaped nut sits. Put it in with the numbers in any orientation, and place the plate over top/screw it on.

Thank you so much WS for the reply and your help. There are no numbers on that side of the axle or on the little plate. Do I just loosen that little plate, move it out of the way, torque the thru axle, then put the plate back over the end of the axle and then snug up the 2.5mm bolt with plate? Sorry for all the questions, but I have not found any threads or clarity on the install of a Kabolt axle with this little plate.

Thanks again sir.

Thanks guys. I spoke with Fox today and I got some clarity. They said that the little "retainer" is to keep the axle nut imbedded in the end of the fork keeping it from falling out.

"Position the retainer over the nut then snug up the 2.5mm screw" were the instructions. Then torque the axle.

Thanks again.
