I have a 2006 Kikapu Deluxe. If I want to replace my front derailleur, are there any fitting rules I need to follow? Top pull; bottom pull; size; etc. I am just learning about dealing with individual bike components, so a fairly basic explanation would be helpful. BTW, I experience ghost down shifting and difficult upshifting under any kind of load, despite several LBS adjustments. I figure a good front derailleur is a cheap enough upgrade to try but I'd like to educate myself a bit. If there's an explanatory thread that I missed, just point my nose in the right direction. Top pull, bottom swing would be the proper fitting. I believe the clamp is 34.9 also.

You really shouldn't being shifting under load anyway, so that might be the problem.

So which of the XTR front derailleur would that be? XTR A (top) or XTR B (bottom)?

I believe the clamp size is 31.8mm.

bottom swing is the top (2007) derailleur, and the bottom pic, is a top swing....it should use a top pull or DUAL PULL config....no bottom pull.......
