I am looking for a bike to be used for XC, light freeride and dirt jumping. My budget is about $500-$900 (£300-£500) and it needs to have half decent forks and hydraulic disc brakes what should I get?

Mountain Cycle Rumble

Quit full-suspension after breaking frames, constantly tweaking, fixing the pivots and bushings and all that rear stuff. I saw it on the trail first and talked to the rider and was impressed and bought a large Rumble. Check the reviews for the frame. You can buy just the frame or a whole bike. The geometry is set up for a five inch fork (130mm) or use a 4 inch (100mm) fork. The smaller fork makes for fast handling but it works. I had a 4 inch Fox on it first and it was great. The frame is strong and stiff with some impressive gussets and machining. I weigh 210 lbs and stand 6'2". You can buy the frame at Greenfish and others. My frame cost $219 (US). Made in Oregon, USA. Get the anodized, nice finish.
