I've been riding my 4" travel FS mountain bike for like 8 years and I'm ready to upgrade bikes. I've been looking at the 5-6" travel trail bikes, VPP, DW-Link, 4-Bar, etc and my head is spinning so hard that I think I'm just going to buck the long travel trend and go with a 6" Fox 36 fork on a hardtail freeride/DH frame w/ tubeless tires so I can run low air pressure in the rear. So, with that thought in mind, what frame would you guys suggest? I'm in Boise, Idaho..so the trails aren't that rough, I'm an expert level rider, 160 pounds, 6' tall.

Chameleon!
werd! he can buy mine since Im going the other way, HT to FS. Spam aside, I have loved my Chameleon as a do everything HT. I've run it as a lightweight xc racer, as a singlespeed (most of the time), and as a burly trail bike. It performed great in all cases. At 6' you ar between a med and a lrg depending on what you want. My medium works for xc even with a 50mm stem so you could go that route with a long stem for xc and a shorty for dj's, etc. On the other hand, the large might be on stem fits all sue for ya. Definitely worth looking inot though.

Id also look at the Evil, its really sweet too!

I can take some and send em on. I'll try to borrow my buds digital camera for better resloution, otherwise, I can grab some video captures and hopefully do it justice...

Here's some shots showing that she's as much at home on the dj's as singletrack....

love my iron horse yakuza bakuto. i threw a pike on the front of it and it feels great. it is big and burly. it tracks great for a hardtail. it is my favorite hard tail that i have ever owned.

i am 6'1" and i got the 17" size 'cause i like em a bit small. my bud is a few inches shorter and got the 17" cause he likes 'em a bit big. for me the 17" is a bit small for long XC pedaling rides. not bad, just a bit small. however, it is perfect for bombing down single track, rough stuff, and urban fun. for the trails that we have here in SoCal, it is as much bike as i will ever need for 95% of the riding.

Then the frame probably had a manufacturing flaw, if you contact someone at evil they will replace it, probably for free. There customer service is really good.
