Recently I ordered a new set of bearings for my Santa Cruz through their warranty claim. I thought those were totally free of cost (lifetime), but I got told I have to pay for shipping. That seems kind of a scam to me.

Have you had to pay for shipping the bearings? or just got them for free?

Interesting, I lodged my claim yesterday for HTLT bearings so will see if I cop the shipping charge as well.

Not my experience but the last time I got new ones was a few years back and that is for a 2014 Heckler if that matters.

Did SC not got bought out?

I usually get 4-5 sets of bearings for my bikes each year and have never been charged for shipping, seems a bit odd for me. I might put in another request for a set here in the next few days and see if that has changed.

Just had a new set last month and didn't pay a penny. Guess it depends on the distributor. Jungle in the UK are great. Received mine on a next day delivery, no questions asked.

I filled the warranty claim on SC’s website but then got contacted by the local distributor (Bicimax), I didn’t actively look for any of this.

Contacted SC again to see if we can make it right this time around.

My request was responding to by SCB who forwarded it to the Australian distributor, who responded and said I need to contact a local retailer to lodge the claim. I have a good relationship with the local retailer, so don't anticipate any issues getting this resolved. I will most likely get them to install the bearings anyway to save my buying a press...

That’s similar to how it went down only that in my case the distributor’s greasy hands are trying to squeeze money off of each little transaction.

It’s like if you bought a bike and had to pay to get it shipped to the store. It doesn’t make any sense, steer away from these guys.

SC directly contacted me and they’re sending the bearings free of charge.

They apologized and did not seem very pleased with Bicimax’s attitude. They’ve asked me to forward them all my emails with Bicimax so that they can take action and “improve” their relationship with distributors.

All in all, excellent support from Santa Cruz as usual. I can also speak highly of Stif over at the UK and the Dutch distributor, they’re great! Just stay away from Bicimax if you can.
