Frame question

Just wanted to get opinions of others who race....(as my wife says...I'm a very "indecisive" person)

I currently race an Orbea Alma and over the last few months I have been hearing a creaking noise on every pedal rotation with any slight climb. I checked the entire bike and took off the cranks/cups and cleaned them (checked the seatpost, crank bolts, pedals, etc. Still hear the noise....I can see small flakes around the BB shell. I can't tell if the shell is coming loose from the frame or it's just normal wear and tear....but I can't think of what else it would be. The bike rides just fine and does not have any other problems.

My question is I have a chance to buy a lightly used 2002 Litespeed Pisgah frame from a friend (and just switch out the parts).....saw the frame and it's in good shape. Do I buy it for around $900 or look for something else to race this season? I can't afford to spend more and I want a HT....but am hesitant to buy another carbon again.

thoughts on trying to ride the Orbea another season, or what frame to ride?

Thanks

Did you use grease on the BB threads, that could be the trick

Yes....but still making the noise
Have you ridden the Litespeed ? I would not buy anything that I havent had the chance to ride . If you have ridden it and like it I see no reason not to .
I would take the bike to an Orbea dealer and let them check it out. Doesn't Orbea have a lifetime warranty?

That's a good point...but I am not the original purchaser. I think the Lifetime warranty applies to the origianl purchaser of the frame
