I've got a steel singlespeed and I want to install truvativ hammerschmidt cranks. I know, I know, it won't be a singlespeed anymore.. Looking for a builder to weld / braze ISCG tabs Thoughts as to a builder that would take this on as it's a smaller project? Would an entire new BB shell need to be installed? Is it something that could just be done somewhat economically?

Thanks,

Measure your bb shell width.

If it's 73, you should lay a straight edge across the drive side BB face and measure back toward the rear axle, to the point where that straight edge hits the chainstay. Hammerschmidt has a back plate that's 110mm in diameter. Your BB shell is probably 38mm diameter, so you'd want (55-19=)36 mm of clearance between the BB shell O.D.and chainstay. Make sure it'll fit on your frame before you go to all the trouble. That back plate sits flush with the BB face.

If your BB is 68, then you need to put 2.5mm of spacer on the face of the BB shell and do that same measurement. Not as easy.

PM me if you need more help.
