I’ve been thinking about getting a new frame built up and was considering having the CS transition into the Top tube effectively having a dual top tube design. The seat tube would be tied in of course, but was thinking if having the CS placed wide clearing the ST would interfere with the rider when the bike is leaning back and forth on a climb. Or if there could be any additional negative side effects with a twin top tube design.

Looking for honest opinions and input here.

Do you mean seat stays? Like a Retrotec? http://ingliscycles.com/bikes/retro_twin.php

Positives:
-Cool look.
-Easier fabrication in some cases

Negatives:
-Heavier (probably not noticeable)
-Arguably flexier (again, not something you'd probably notice)
-Possibility of banging your knees on the TT more

I'm about to start working on one for a friend/customer/geek, we'll see how it goes. Of course, it's also a 36er, so it won't be super comparable to a "conventional" bike.

Doh! your exactly correct. Glad everyone knew what I was thinking and not what I was typing. Was thinking Seat Stays not Chain Stays.

Really nice work on that frame. Any feedback on how it rides???
