My wife sent her nearly new Cake frame for a crash replacement @ $299 thinkin' SWEET!

We recieved it back and they didn't even attempt to match the paint of the original frame and added a couple butt ugly decals, that look clear coated over.

We're pretty frustrated. Yeah $300 id a good deal for a front triangle, yet is seems with a company with the resources that Gary Fisher/Trek has, they'd be wiling and able to replace the frame with what you bought in the first place.

I'm not sure how to go about voicing my concerns with GF or if we're unrealistic in our expectations. They should have at least let us know beforehand that they'd be doing what they did instead of the little surprise we received.

Any advice would be welcome and helpful. Thanks.

I'm not really aware of any frame replacement that automatically matches paint, especially with single frame bikes although I have heard of some riders paying extra for that service wrt dual suspension half frames.

One of my buds got a Specialized road frame replacement after he broke his rear triangle (just wore it out no crash, no charge) but the newer frame wouldn't accept half his old components.

Quite often you typically get the currently produced equivalent. So if my Big Sur went down I'd expect to get a monotone made in China frame instead of the two tone pinstripped made in the USA version I'm riding now. Worse the new bike might clash bad with the current fork.
