For frame bearings does it really matter to get name brand bearing like NTN etc.. or are most import bearings the same??

thanks

Not an expert here, but I don't buy no name bearings any more. Every set of wheel bearings on my dirtbikes I have had to replace have been no name ones. I think because the all balls kits are cheap and plentiful here and what the motorbike shops seem to prefer to supply. Have you gone to a bearing shop and checked the pricing? last bearings I bought the no name ones were $8 each and *** brand ones were $10 so a bit of a no brainer.

With name brands you get more guaranted tolerances, also price difference towards no-name bearings is not worth considering.

Bearings that actually spin, and wear out through "use" should be good quality. Frame bearings that only partially rotate and will probably die from either flat spots or dirt ingress, you will never notice the quality difference. At least thats my experience, but i do live in a very wet/muddy part of the world.

I disagree. Here are some cheaper bearings I put in my frame, didn't last 2 months. Couldn't get my normal ones because covid...

Ah, looks like you employed the little know “RUD” method to inspect the internal features of the bearings.
Cursed I say!

Checking over the fatbike....
Another bearing in pieces, inside the freehub.

Google full compliment bearings basically they don't have a cage which allows them to squeeze in a couple of extra balls (in the case of deep grove ball barings), these bearings don't need a cage to stop them nocking into one and other under accelerations and decelerations, just like a bicycle pivot bearing they are not used in high speed applications (rpm) they do tend to have higher load carrying capacities up to (some cases approaching 50 percent more for those of us that can do the calcs ) My friend was actually principle engineer in bearing manufacture at ***/SCHAEFFLER/INA ,Germany so obviously he recommends a name brand (but then he would) he does also say full compliment is the way to go
