Everyone seems to agree the the Z1 is the way to go over the Manitou. But what about the Fox Vanilla RLC. The 05 is disc only. Anybody beat on one of those? Im picking one of these two up tomorrow. Any input?

just wondering. did you read about them in the review sections? just a thought---...IMO, the z1 seems to be the better choice. my friend has one on his bike and hasnt had any problems with it since he bought it (5 months i think.). he does FR and DH and the fork feels real good...i dont know about the fox...should be a good fork..is it better then the z1?--i dont know...

as far as dampening is concerned the fox is superior. the 2 things that would steer me away from the fox are that it doesn’t have an option for a 20mm Axel(good idea for freeriding as its stiffer), and in the past people have had problems with snapping the dropouts from 8 inch rotors. the z1 is nice, but also has its flaws.
personally I would take the fox, despite the problems above

The Vanilla RLC is going to be lighter and have better dampening, but it doesnt have a Qr20. The Z1 is going to be a bit heavier, have the Qr20, but you can still beat the crap out of it and not have any problems. Im not sure of the durability and strength of the Fox, so i would go with the Z1 in my opinion. :)

The 05 fox's have beefed up dropouts. I'm not sure if they are approved for 8" rotor use though. Fox has a bunch of cool stuff coming for 05, but a simple 20mm vanilla would make alot of people happy i think.
