I just purchase a crown/steerer assmbly for my RLC 80 fork because my new frame had a much longer head tube. I have disassembled and changed the oil in Fox forks in the past and i am somewhat familiar with their inner workings.

I lubed the air shaft and seal with float fluid and attempted to push it into the new upper tube and it will not go past the threads. I do not want to damage the air shaft or seal by applying too much force. My LBS told me that all Fox 32mm crown/steerer assemblies are the same. the new steer/crown assembly appears to be identical to the old one.

My question is, are there different air shaft seal diameters between the various fork models? Or is the air shaft seal supposed to be flexible and possibly needing replacement? If so, where can I get an air shaft seal?
