Just to clear things up.
The way it works is when you place an order for either a Mojo or HD with an Ibis build kit, and you are ordering a Fox fork, it will not come with the Kashima coating from Ibis.
You can ask your local bike shop to delete the Fork from the kit and then add on a Fox fork with the Kashima coating which I assume would come from Fox directly.
I asked the bike shop I am dealing with what the difference would be, and was told around $500, which I thought was definitely not worth it.
If you order a Fox Talas 32 fork with an Ibis build kit, it will come with 2-position travel adjustability set at 130 and 150mm, which is unique to Ibis.
The Talas 32 from Fox comes with a 2-position TALAS system that instantly changes travel between 150-120 mm, or 140-110 mm.
If you order a Fox Talas 36 Fork with a build kit, it will come with the same travel settings as from Fox, 2-position travel adjustability set at 120 and 160 mm.
Once again, Fox forks in an Ibis build kit do not come with the Kashima coating.

no kidding... $500 for a different coating is crazy.... maybe has to do with wholesale/bundle vs special order.

do you mean 3 positions as in 150-130-110 as the '09 had ? vs the '10 which have 1 drop 150-120 now ?

No, I mean if you order your 2011 32 Talas fork with an Ibis build kit, it comes only with 2 travel position adjustments......130 and 150mm, while a fork from Fox comes with 120 and 150mm with Kashima coating.

Maverick1 - I *think* your pricing info about KASHIMA COAT might be slightly off

I do not believe it costs $500 dollars to upgrade to the Kashima Coat from the non-Kashima Coat TALAS. If it does cost that much for Kashima Coat (on top of what it already costs to buy a TALAS), then that is ridiculous, and I won't pay it either!

Also, I would imagine that the possibility of the upgrade and price to do so might vary from one LBS to the next...

I am currently awaiting delivery of Mojo HD X9 build kit with an upgrade to the 2011 Fox 36 TALAS RC2 160 (the Kashima Coat version).

On Ibis's website (on 7-13-10) it shows that the Mojo HD X9 built kit has a $450 upgrade option for the Fox 36 TALAS RC2. If you choose this upgrade from Ibis you will receive a non-Kashima Coat TALAS fork.

I asked my LBS if I could upgrade the fork to Kashima Coat with them. They said "yes", as long as I paid an additional $100 ON TOP of the $450 TALAS upgrade price listed on the Ibis website.

To summarize, I paid for an X9 built kit, plus $450 TALAS upgrade, plus $100 for the Kashima Coat upgrade.

Hope this helps. :D
