Fox fork death wobble

Just got back from a ride an noticed during high speed braking the handlebar would wobble left to right violently. As the bike slowed the wobble turned into a shutter with the fork moving back and forth quickly. When cleaning the bike post ride the paint from the upper post mount has been rubbed away by the rotor. Yet when in the stand I measured 1.27mm distance between the rotor and fork. Anyone else see this and should I be concerned about fork failure?
